Environmentally Responsible Building
Building or remodeling a home touches upon a whole host of concerns effecting the environment and our own health. Environmentally responsible building has become almost a science, including subjects as diverse as indoor air quality, materials choices, and waste management. Weighting out the benefit or appropriateness of a range of options is often part of environmentally responsible building. Our experience is in recognizing the art of making the many choices presented to homeowners and builders.
Hawk Meadow Homecraft attempts to create an example of "best practices" for an environmentally responsible approach to remodeling. Our handling of waste, preference for non-toxic materials, limited use of scarce old growth lumber, utilization of recycled materials, and use of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood demonstrates our commitment to minimize the impact of our work on the environment.
